Publisher's Summary

Emmy was born a dweller, and she expected to die as a dweller...until Willa changed everything. Now she has no idea of her path, and she certainly wasn't prepared for what would happen after her death. Caught in the middle of a war that threatened to prove much more significant than anyone had ever expected, there is only one person who can help her...but his terms are steep.

Cyrus was born out of necessity: a being of light, brought to life with a singular purpose. Time has changed him, and the recent events have unsettled him...but a certain transformed dweller is about to do much worse than that. She is about to turn his existence upside down.

Topia is giving them no choice: They survive together, or the war is lost.

Favorite Series

One of my favorite series out there, I have listen to the series twice now waiting for this book and it was worth the wait! <3 These writers are wonderful and I can't wait to read the rest of the series and start on more of their works.

Just wait on the real book... not worth a credit

Total waste of my audio credit. I dont even classify this as a novella. Its not even a short story. Its just an area of a real story that was cut out by the editor because it probably made the book too long. The story is obvious and skippable (I think I just made up that word).

You get to hear about the day before Willa found out her sister wasn't dead and a love scene. Everything else you know from the real book already.

It's written in the same quirky way of the series but from Emmy and Cyrus' point of view. You don't learn anything knew about either of them, only see them interact for a few hours which is just more of what you've heard/read in the previous books.

Unless you are extremely bored or you get this for free, then don't waste your credit or money. Just wait on the next full book.

might be better than the books

I wish this wasnt a novella! I really enjoyed this perspective and these two characters, wish the authors had made it a full book. The narrator was pretty good as usual.

✨Amazing as always! Loved Emmy and Cyrus ✨

I will be honest, I waited to finish the Curse of the Gods series until Neutral and Pain were on audio, since I don't get to read a lot and I can get through books faster by listening with my commute to and from work. I am so glad I did, even though it was torture. Vanessa does an amazing job with her different intonations so you know when its Emmy vs. Willa, when its Cyrus vs. the Abcurses. Top 5 favorite narrators by far. This series is one of my favorite audiobook series of all times 😍

I loved Emmy from the beginning and Cyrus was the character people couldn't help but love even if he was an ahole. I loved seeing Emmy figure out her powers, finally getting to explore her feelings with Cyrus, and getting to see her perspective on everything in Topia and in regards to the war between the creator and Willa. I love her snark and her compassion and loved what goddess she became.

I highly recommend reading this book, even if its a novella and not one of the main 5 books. It helps paint a more complete picture and I love Emmy and Cyrus together. So much heat but love there. I am going to miss these characters so much ❤️

Emmy, the Goddess of

While this is supposed to be a BONUS story, it is the next step in the series. It covers what happens at the end of Strength from Emmy’s perspective, and while Willa is unconscious. Emmy and Neutral hook up, and the family grows.
Moyen does a decent enough job of narration.

Interesting... but not about the main character

I've been waiting for the next book. I thought this would be where we left off. But it wasn't. still it wasn't too bad. I enjoyed the filler. wished it hadn'tv cost me a credit though.

Oh My Gods! I wish this never stopped!

Seriously, I wish this had lasted for 60 hours~ I have been waiting to fall in love with Cyrus! I was already half way to smitten with him but this sealed the deal! He had always been a source of humor and annoyance, but this book was something new! I also been waiting to see more Emme, she is one of my favorite characters and now she has a lot, A LOT going on with her. This audiobook was everything I wanted it to be and so much more! I just wished it could have been longer, it seemed a small taste to a person who has been starving for this series! As always, Vanessa Moyen slayed it! She was a perfect find for this series. And the authors did a wonderful job! A+

Cute, quick-paced novella

I love this series and I was SO excited when I saw a novella about Emmy and Cyrus! In the other books of the series, I love their tension and watching their interactions play out whenever they’re in the same room.

This novella delivered their usual snippiness and tension. It also furthered the plot of the overall series a little too. We get to learn what kind of god Emmy is. We get to meet Terrence the god of bestiary. We get to see Emmy and Cyrus finally stop fighting the tension and give into the chemistry!

I wish the novella hadn’t gone by so quick. I wanted a bit more to happen and I also really wanted more description. I feel like Emmy would be more analytical and descriptive of her surroundings and events she witnesses. Instead, we get a more fast-paced, less detailed story.
Another critique is that I wished Cyrus’s voice had an accent during his entire point of view, not just when he’s speaking. I feel like this only happened towards the last quarter of the book.

I still love the world, love the characters and can’t wait to read Pain and get back to a hilarious Willa and her boys.
