Publisher's Summary
What if Mulan had to travel to the Underworld?
When Captain Shang is mortally wounded by Shan Yu in battle, Mulan must travel to the Underworld, Diyu, in order to save him from certain death. But King Yama, the ruler of Diyu, is not willing to give Shang up easily.
With the help of Shang's great lion guardian ShiShi, Mulan must traverse Diyu to find Shang's spirit, face harrowing obstacles, and leave by sunrise - or become King Yama's prisoner forever. Moreover, Mulan is still disguised as the soldier called Ping, wrestling with the decision to reveal her true identity to her closest friend. Will Mulan be able to save Shang before it's too late? Will he ever be able to trust her again? Or will she lose him - and be lost in the Underworld - forever?

Very Well Done
Mulan defeats the Huns in the mountains. Instead of Mulan taking the blow from Shan Yu with his sword, Shang the captain takes it instead. This leads to Shang being on deaths door. Desperate Mulan makes a deal with king Yama the ruler of the underworld. If Mulan can find Shang deep in the underworld and bring him back to the real world before sunrise they’d both be freee to go and Shang will survive, if she fails to find him and get to the real world before time runs out then Mulans soul will be trapped in the underworld forever and Shang will die. The premise of the story is very intriguing to me so I decided to pick it up and read it. The book took me about three days to read. I found that this author did a very good job of showing the culture and the heritage of China. They were plot points in the book that were from the original movie and the second movie. I’d really like for Disney to do a movie based on this book so I could see the characters and the scenery this book takes place. VERY well done!
