I believe the ketogenic diet is the best practical way to do this for most people.

When I say diet, I mean weight-loss diet. Once you lose the weight, you will have to stop this diet and go on a maintenance diet. I go into great detail on this subject in other books.

I want to prevent these conditions. If you are already obese, first I have to get you to lose fat. I am going to be much more successful if you understand the metabolic basis for this diet and the metabolic consequences for not losing weight. I will get you to lose weight, but then you will have to spend some more money to learn about the common maintenance diet to keep you from just going back to where you started. Some of you who have insulin resistance will have to go on the low carbohydrate version of the maintenance diet. You really don't have much choice....
