A special tome for sprituality in our present day

This book is the key to unlocking the door to our spiritual awakening. The answers have truly been laying dormant in us all along. Are you interested in true personal enlightenment?

Our present day existence is quickly becoming mired in negativity, unhappiness and confusion. Over working leads to stress, anxiety and depression. My doctor recently told me that 80% of his patient's visits are directly related to one of these. Mental health is silently under siege and becoming the most important health issue of our current era.

Most of us are walking around disconnected from the true source/meaning of life, in an unconscious state taken over by the ego and the mind. We are constantly re-living the past and hoping for a better tomorrow all the while forgetting about the most important place of all, the Present. It is here and deep within ourselves that we can find and confront/heal our pains and be free from all fear, unhappiness and anger.

Mr. Tolle is an expert in the subject matter because he personally has dealt with such in his own life. He has mixed his experiences with his adept interpretations from other spiritual and religious teachings and combined them in a way that makes perfect sense.

I personally worked myself into the ground in the last year and have been slowly making my way back. I would never wish to relive that again but deep down inside I am glad it happened because I believe now that it was time for me to change my path in life (it's never too late). This book has opened my eyes and spirit anew, I have already made great strides in not only getting better but being happier and healthier than ever before.

I believe that Mr. Tolle wrote this book not for $$$s like most out there, but because he truly understands & cares about the current state of people's being. I have read it twice and will read it again to reinforce the important teachings that he has bestowed in this book.

If you are unhappy, wondering why you can't get over certain things from your past, or seem unable to get out of negative loops in your life... the time maybe now to get a fresh perspective and find the real meaning of it all deep down inside.

Take care and I hope you find the profound enlightenment that I did inside these pages. Thank you Eckhart, you are a modern day Sage!

Most extraordinary book I have heard

I cannot overstate the wisdom contained in this book. I would not likely be able to read it, but somehow listening to Tolle speak, it makes sense. I am sincerely grateful for this book!

I LOVE this book.

Full of reminders to bring you back to present moment awareness. Be HERE, now. It s the only place there is, and it isn’t a place. Nor is it a time. It is, and I am. Now.
That is all there is.

Some good ideas, but Tolle's not a parent...

I listened carefully and absorbed some interesting new perspectives on how one can frame their understanding of connectedness, presence, being, and detachment from the mind-based identity. There are certainly many wise and valuable ways to reconsider one's situation; however, I feel that these teachings may best be introduced to non-parents (especially young adults) to thread into their conceptual framework as support to their development in life through their interactions as a member of society within a physical and spiritual environment.
About half way through the book, I was finding it REALLY hard to consider how I could apply his teachings as they were presented. Then I realized why... he's not a parent.
I don't care who you are or what you believe, I feel that there is no stronger force within the universe than the bond, responsibility, emotionality, and commitment that a parent will have for their child(ren).
Then I understood why I was having a hard time relating to him. He spoke of all of the time that he sat in a trans of joy and contentment without concern or consideration for objects, other people, or money. He espoused the importance of dissociating one's identity from their external situations and thoughts, instead gaining every aspect of identity and connectedness from within. Personally, the external considerations that come along with parenthood are not ones that I would want to dissociate from, even if I could.
If Mr. Tolle was ever to experience the sleepless nights, the unbridled laughs, the intense anger, the joy and peacefulness, as well as the fear and pain of the realities of being a parent, he may interpret and deliver his message somewhat differently.
Again, there are many valuable lessons and tools to be considered in this book. But... take his deep beliefs and teachings with a grain of salt given that he has indulged himself completely in the pursuit and understanding of his own mind and the search for his own solace.
With respect, I appreciate that he is not entirely selfish in that he has codified his way of thinking into a system that has grown to enlighten and support so many people over so many years.
However, being that he has not lived with the responsibility for a dependant life (especially a pre-verbal/rational infant life), I don't find that he can offer relatable guidance for me on how to process internal and external awareness and peace.

Relevant and Insightful

Nothing short of perfect for where I was in my life when I read this book. It allowed me to take a step back, slow down and learn why it's neccessary to appreciate the present moment. Having listened to it over a year ago I could use another review of this book and its lessons. As it's so easy to fall back into the mindless hustle and bustle of our 'repetitive' days.

Poor Voice

Content is great but the voice is terrible. There is a hiss in his lisp that hurts the ears at regular volume.

Fantastic Book!!!

I have had Mr Tolle's books for years and then he came to Winnipeg so I purged listened to his two most famous books before going to his event. What can I say - his words are simple and the message clear. Live in the NOW and be happy. And by all means read/listen to this book. It will change your life.
