    • The Beatles Rooftop Concert 1969 - On 30 January 1969, the Beatles performed an impromptu concert from the rooftop of their Apple Corps headquarters at 3 Savile Row, in central London's office and fashion district. Joined by keyboardist Billy Preston, the band played a 42-minute set before the Metropolitan Police arrived and asked them to reduce the volume. It was the final public performance of their career. Although the concert had been conceived only a few days previously, the Beatles had been planning to return to live performance since they began the recording sessions for their album Let It Be (1970). They performed nine takes of five new songs as crowds of onlookers, many on lunch breaks, congregated in the streets and on the rooftops of nearby buildings to listen.

Show Notes - Ambition on the Daily Values Podcast

Welcome to the Daily Values Podcast! In this episode, we explore the value of Ambition and how it can be incorporated into our daily lives.

    Definition of Ambition

Ambition is defined as having a strong drive to succeed. It is an important value because it helps individuals set and achieve goals, overcome obstacles, and grow as individuals.

    Examples of Ambition

We provide three examples of how Ambition can be demonstrated in everyday life:

    1. A student who sets a goal to get straight A's for the semester and works hard to achieve that goal.
    2. An entrepreneur who starts a new business with the ambition to disrupt an industry and make a positive impact on society.
    3. An athlete who sets a goal to run a marathon and trains for months, pushing themselves to their physical and mental limits to prepare for the race.

Tangible Actions to Align with Ambition

We suggest tangible actions that individuals can take to align with the value of Ambition:

    • Organize and lead a community project that addresses a specific issue or need.
    • Create a mentorship program for young people in the community.

    Habits to Cultivate Ambition

We suggest daily, weekly, monthly, and annual habits that can help individuals cultivate Ambition over time:

    • Daily: Create a to-do list first thing in the morning that includes at least one ambitious goal for the day.
    • Weekly: Set aside time each week to work on a personal project or hobby that aligns with their values and interests.
    • Monthly: Attend a networking event or meetup related to their field or interests.
    • Annual: Set an ambitious goal for the year, such as learning a new skill or starting a personal project.

    Opposite of Ambition

The opposite of Ambition, laziness, is discussed. A behavior in opposition to the value Ambition is procrastination, lack of drive to pursue goals or improve oneself, or internal dialogue that sounds like "I can't do it" or "It's not worth the effort."

    Niche Hobby

One niche hobby that embodies the value of Ambition is rock climbing. Climbing requires a lot of drive and determination to overcome physical and mental obstacles, set and achieve goals, and improve one's skills and abilities over time.

    Pop Culture Reference

The release of the film "The Social Network" in 2010, which depicted the rise of Facebook and its founder Mark Zuckerberg, is given as a good example of Ambition. The film showcases the drive and determination of Zuckerberg to create a groundbreaking social media platform that would change the way people interact online, despite facing numerous obstacles along the way.

    Self-Care

One thing a person can do by themselves to care for their higher self in alignment with the value of Ambition is to set aside time each day to work on a personal project or goal that aligns with their passions and interests.

    Thought Prompts

We provide two thought prompts to encourage listeners to reflect on how they can cultivate Ambition in their own lives:

    1. What is something you have always wanted to achieve, but have been afraid to pursue? How can you use the value of Ambition to overcome your fears and take steps towards achieving that goal?
    2. Think about a time when you felt truly motivated and driven to succeed. What were the circumstances that led to that feeling, and how can you replicate those circumstances in your life now to cultivate the value of Ambition?
