Dr. Varghese is nationally recognized for his expertise in thoracic surgery, specializing in lung, esophageal, and mediastinal diseases, and is renowned for his work in minimally invasive techniques. He's a leader in health services and educational research, notably creating the Strong for Surgery program, now a formal Quality program of the American College of Surgeons. He's a prolific researcher with significant extramural funding, including leading a Phase III clinical trial funded by the National Cancer Institute. Additionally, he is engaged in promoting justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion within surgery. Dr. Varghese is a respected figure in digital media and serves as President-Elect of the Society of University Surgeons.
