Princeton theologian B. B. Warfield was a watchman on the wall of orthodoxy. His temperament, training, and talent—together with his deep love for Christ and amazing breadth of knowledge—shaped him into the twentieth century's greatest defender of the faith. His writings have been studied with profit for well over a hundred years—a tribute to his clear, careful, cogent, gospel-centered exposition of orthodox Christianity, which he called "the redemptive religion" and which he fearlessly defended.

Benjamin B. Warfield (1851-1921) was Professor of Didactic and Polemic Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary. He discusses the human authorship of the scriptures and points out the divine authorship behind the human. It ascribes to the authors of the books the influence of the Holy Spirit in their process of writing that the words they set down become the words of God. 

In five of lectures delivered at Princeton Seminary during the summer of 1914, B. B. Warfield used “a progressive series of corrections” to explain “the divine dealing with man which ends in his salvation.” Starting with the divide between naturalism and supernaturalism, continuing to sacerdotalism and evangelicalism, and on through universalistic vs. particularistic views, Warfield emphasized complete dependence upon God: “It is only the Calvinist that has warrant to believe in salvation whether of the individual or of the world.”
