About this listen

Book Two in the instant USA TODAY best-selling trilogy!

From the viral TikTok author of the stalker romcom, LIGHTS OUT, comes Navessa Allen’s second book in best-selling The Into Darkness Trilogy, upping the ante with voyeurism and play club kink.

“I wanted this woman, and I was a man who always got what he wanted.”

Nico "Junior" Trocci knows Lauren Marchetti is off limits. She is sweetness and laughter, whereas Junior exists in a world of violence and depravity. Men like him don’t get to have women like her. It’s why he pushed her away back in high school and kept his distance ever since.

But when Junior looks Lauren up online, he discovers the shy, bookish girl he remembers is gone. In her place is a strikingly beautiful woman whose social media is filled with scantily clad pictures of herself and a connection to a nearby play club. Junior’s innocent curiosity quickly turns into a dark obsession. Watching Lauren from a distance isn’t enough; he needs to make her his.

“He’s ruthless; a walking red flag. Good thing red is my favorite color.”

Lauren is intrigued by the mystery man who keeps showing up at her club, who tempts her white-hot desires. But as their flirty online messages stir up a deeper form of connection, Lauren worries she’s developing real feelings for this brooding stranger. As their combined desire ratchets up to a breaking point, who will seduce who?

Editorial Review

He’s a mobster. She’s his obsession
I didn’t think I’d fall this hard for Nic and Lo, but Caught Up pulled me in fast and didn’t let go. The story follows Lauren, a cam girl who’s built her life on her own terms, and Nico, the mobster who never really let her go even after betraying her years ago. What starts as an unwelcome reunion slowly unravels into something darker, deeper, and unexpectedly tender. The performances by Kasi Hollowell, Jason June, and Teddy Hamilton were SO steamy, making it impossible to stop listening. I wasn’t ready for how much I’d care about these characters. —Patty R., Audible Editor

So I pressed play on Caught Up, knowing I was in for a hot, mafia romance. You know, guns, guilt, maybe a little angst. What I got instead? A full-on, high-octane kink-fest starring a morally questionable heir with jawline trauma and a heroine who clearly skipped every single red flag like she was doing an Olympic sprint.

Lauren and Nico (yes, that Nico) serve up a deliciously chaotic blend of second chances, forbidden tension, and enough sexual chemistry to power a small city. The banter? Top-tier. The spice? On fire. The plot? I'm going with mafia drama meets late-night forbidden fantasy, sprinkled with a touch of emotional whiplash and just the right amount of daddy issues.

Also, the spice level? NASA called — they’d like to study the heat waves this book puts out. The narration for this book OMG! **top tier** - Teddy Hamilton owes me therapy. Seriously. Lots and lots of therapy.

Plot? Technically, yes. Things happen. People shoot guns. Secrets are kept. There’s betrayal, however, I'm not going to pretend I was here for the storyline. I absolutely came for the slow-burn that forgot to burn slowly and went straight to inferno.

To recap, if you're here for filthy dialogue, morally gray disasters in love, and narration that makes you question your life choices? Caught Up absolutely delivers.

Bad decisions never felt this good

It’s hard for me to give this one a review because I likely would give it 4 stars if it wasn’t the follow up to Lights Out. Unfortunately, in my opinion Caught Up just doesn’t live up to the expectations I had going in because of how much I loved Lights Out. That’s not to say it wasn’t a good book and that I didn't enjoy it, because I did,

I also I have a huge complaint that is audiobook production specific… ok so we are introduced to Lauren’s roommate Ryan who in the audiobook is voiced by a separate actor. If that’s the case, why wouldn’t you just do an ensemble cast and have Jacob Morgan and Elena Wolfe come back to voice Josh and Aly?? They both have enough air time in Caught Up that this felt like such a missed opportunity and I felt disappointed by that.

Wish i tampered my expectations

When I finished Lights Out I couldn’t wait for more. Caught Up was the perfect sequel! Perfect blend of story and spice.

10/10

Lauren’s character is kind of annoying, made me look forward to juniors parts that’s all she’s just a stubborn girl and it rubs me the wrong way but it’s a good story!

It was good

I like that it tied in with Lights Out with appearances from Aly, Josh, and Junior’s family. I like that it was a toxic second chance romance. The banter from Lights Out was part of what made it so special, but the history between Nico and Lauren added a different flair.

I loved the female narrator - her range of emotion in the character was one of the best I’ve heard.

**spoiler** seems like we’re getting Tyler and Stella’s story next!

Enjoyable, but Lights Out stands on top

Loved the narration — that was definitely the highlight. Honestly, if it weren’t for the narrators being so amazing, this probably would have been a DNF for me. I had a really hard time finishing this one. The story just didn’t measure up to Lights Out. And the main female character? Supposed to be strong and worldly, but she came off as whiny, overly dramatic, and completely illogical. I couldn’t figure out what Junior saw in her. She just… ugh.

Narrators are amazing!

Not quite as funny as “Lights Out”, but still absolutely AMAZING!!! The spice was SPICY, and the cute scenes were ADORABLE! I cried at least 5 times (not including my 20 minute cry when I realized I’d finished the book. If I could go back in time and read this for the first time again, I would a million times!!) Navessa, you have done it again girl!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

OH MY GAWD!!!!

Narrators were good, always love Teddy’s voice so can’t complain about that. This book felt kind of lack luster after Lights out tho, especially because the narrators in lights out did such an amazing job! I think maybe I over hyped it in my head from how excited I was for it, but I didn’t like the FMC at all and the story was meh. Overall was kinda disappointed.

Meh.
