Publisher's Summary

Listen to it because:

Aaron Dembski-Bowden takes an event mentioned in a Warhammer 40,000 rulebook - the Fall of Vilamus - and weaves his Night Lords characters into it, crafting a tense and dramatic tale of honour (or the complete lack thereof) amongst traitors...you'd think they'd know better that to trust one another.

The story:

Driven on by their hatred of the False Emperor, the Night Lords stalk the shadows of the galaxy, eternally seeking revenge for the death of their primarch. Their dark quest leads them to a fractious alliance with the Red Corsairs, united only by a common enemy. Together with this piratical band of renegades, they bring their ways of destruction to the fortress-monastery of the Marines Errant.

Written by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. Narrated by Andrew Wincott.

Ave Dominus Nox

ADB is one of the best authors in the 40k cannon and this series might be his magnum opus. Struggled to put it down. The narrator for the Night Lords series is also one of the best I've ever heard in any audio presentation. A tremendous story, just buy it.

very good book

This book is the second part of the trilogy (make sure you read/listen to soul hunter first). Andrew Wincott did an excellent job narrating. Aaron Dembosky Bowden has truly crafted a special story here. The characters are more developed in this book and we are given more insight into the night lords culture as a legion. The most fascinating aspect of this trilogy is the love interest between Septimus and Octavia. In a weird way this is a romance novel disguised as a 40k book and I love it.

I was hooked on this from the set up of the first book.

Andrew Wincott really nails the voices throughout the story.

good, but not perfect

a good follow up the book 1, but not as directed in the early part of the book. feels a little directionless untill it hits about 1/3 mark then it's an amazing helicopter.

I don't normally speak English, but the voice actor made it easy it follow conversations, using very distinguishable voices as well as staying consistent with them. great job!!

Worth it

The characters are make sense, the story is good, and the pace is fun. Overall, a good window into a ship that challenges the heretic’s stereotype of maddening worship to Chaos.
