Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Publisher's Summary
New York Times best-seller. Over five million copies sold
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events, inspiring Outside magazine to name him the Fittest (Real) Man in America.
In Can't Hurt Me, he shares his astonishing life story and reveals that most of us tap into only 40 percent of our capabilities. Goggins calls this The 40% Rule, and his story illuminates a path that anyone can follow to push past pain, demolish fear, and reach their full potential.
An annotated edition of Can't Hurt Me, offering over two hours of bonus content featuring deeper insights and never-before-told stories shared by David. Not available in other formats.
"David's story is captivating. He tells that story, bares his soul, and provides the principles and techniques he used to overcome obstacles and roadblocks. "
—Jordan, Audible listener

Awesome book!
This book is so awesome, I didn't want it to finish! When it ended I was left with peace and courage to keep going and a sense of being on the right track of wanting to keep going despite my own difficulties.
This book is about going forward despite all odds. It's not a book about the perfect plan on doing intense things it's about the attitude to have.
I believe he went so hardcore and a lot of times unprepared for intense challenges because of the sense of urgency he felt about going beyond his bad odds and this I believe to be the reason of being so hard and going beyond physical limits breaking his body and still going on.
I related so well with this attitude and search for the ultimate limits possible as I have lived that way with my own realities.
Like him, when I finally reached my own limits, it was with hypothyroidism and I had the same thought of being satisfied of having given all I had and the feeling that if that was the end, I could die with peace because I didn't hold anything. Like him, I still was ready to keep going and do the best with was left to me not going to give up as long as life was there.
I really love how he took the different steps in his life to come up with tools to push through hardships and obstacles that he shares through the book as challenges that anyone can implement. Here are the 10 challenges:
Challenge 1-
Write what is the bad hand you were given, what is your disadvantage what has held you back, your obstacle in detail.
Own it and like it saying you can't hurt me.
Challenge 2-
Have your own accountability mirror.
Tell the truth about your reality and what needs to be done about it.
Make small steps to the biggest goal.
Challenge 3-
Write down everything you don't like to do and that you should do to progress and go do it over and over again everyday. Make your weaknesses your strength. Take the path of most resistance. Go at the micro level and progress. Callous your mind.
Challenge 4-
Choose any competitive situation you are in right now.
Who is your opponent: (teacher, coach, boss, client, collegue)
No matter how they are treating you, there is one way to not only earn their respect, but turn the tables, it's excellence.
Know the answer to, "Why am I here?"
Find how to be at your best in the worse times.
It is a mind game to endure just enough to dominate. It is mostly a mind game against ourself.
Challenge 5-
Time to visualize overcoming or accomplishing a new task and potential challenges and ways to solve them. Research the problems and solutions.
Be prepared to answer the simple questions:
Why are you doing this?
What is driving you towards this achievment?
Where does the darkness you're using as fuel come from?
What has calloused your mind?
You need those answers at your fingertips when you hit a wall of pain and doubt.
To push through you need to channel your darkness.
Feed off it and learn on your calloused mind.
Visualisation will never compensate for work undone.
You cannot visualize lies.
In the midst of pain and doubt, take time to calm your mind instead of panicking, take time to be patient, regain your thought process. Slow your heart rate down by slowing down the tempo to take back control of your mind. Slow down your thought process to gain back logic thought.
Challenge 6-
Take inventory of your cookie jar.
Include achievements, life obstacles, things you failed but repeated until success.
Feel what it was like to overcome those struggles, opponents and win.
Then get to work.
Set ambitious goals and let thoses past victories carry you to your new personal best.
The cookie jar is your shortcut to taking control of your own thought process.
Use it that way. Use this energy to succeed again in the heat of battle.
Challenge 7-
Remove the governor from your brain.
Push past your normal stopping point gradually.
This resets your baseline.
Stick to this process and soon what you thought was impossible is something you do everyday of your life.
Go beyond your 40% capacity.
The 40% rule says that we usually think we're at the limits of our capacities when we really are only at 40% in and still have 60% to give.
There is a big caution.
Do not figure this 40% rule by destroying yourself.
Don't go from 0 to 100, go gradually.
Go 5% to 10% more at a time.
Challenge 8-
Schedule it in.
It's time to compartimentalize your day.
Week 1:
Go about your normal schedule.
Take notes.
Get super detailed about your activities. Document them all with timestamps.
This will be your baseline and find plenty of fat to trim.
Identify wasted time to increase productivity.
Week 2:
Build an optimal schedule. Lock everything into place in 15 to 30 minute blocks.
Some tasks will take multiple blocks or entire days.
When you work, only work on one thing at a time.
Think about the task in front of you and pursue it relentlessly.
When it comes for the next task in your schedule, place that first one aside and apply the same focus.
Make sure your meal breaks are adequat but not open-ended.
Schedule in exercice and rest too.
When it is time to rest, actually rest.
No checking email or bullshitting social media.
If you are going to work hard you must also rest your brain.
Make notes with timestamps in week 2. You may still find some residual dead space.
Week 3:
By week 3, you should have a working schedule that maximizes your effort without sacrificing sleep.
Challenge 9-
Ths is for the unusual ones.
If you made it somewhere, you need to look for more.
You need to become uncommon amongst uncommon.
Continue to put obstacles on your way to put friction because this is how you grow even stronger.
Before you know it you will stand alone.
There is no finish line.
Challenge 10-
Think about your most recent and your most heart-wrenching failure.
Write out all the good things, all that went well, be detailed and generous with yourself.
Then note how you handled your failure, did it affect your life and relationships? How so?
How did you think during the preparation for and during the execution stage of your failure?
You have to know how you were thinking at each step because it's all about mindset and this is where most people fall short.
Now, go back through and make a list of the things you can fix.
This is not time to be soft or generous, be brutally honest.
Write them all out, study them. Then look at your calendar and schedule another attempt as soon as possible.
If the failure happened in childhood, and you can't recreate it, still write the report because you still can use the information to achieve anything.
As you prepare keep this keep the accountability mirror handy and make all the necessary adjustments.
When it comes time to execute, keep in mind everything about the calloused mind, the cookie jar and the 40% rule in the forefront of your mind. Control your mindset, dominate your thought process.
This life is all a mind game.
Once you realize that, own it.
If you fail again, so be it. Take the pain, repeat the steps and keep fighting. That is what it is all about.
This book is a great reminder as I am in the midst of other big challenges and even if I'm not one to quite, I find this book to be a great guide to keep grinding with courage and strategy.

I've already started implementing many of the challenges listed in the book, and I once again am feeling obsessed with a couple specific areas of my life that I desperately want to improve. I feel invigorated, as if I'm now aiming towards what I should've been going after all along, and am chasing after daily discomforts and fears, trying to avoid the path of least resistance. Mr. Goggins' story was emotionally moving, and the audiobook format worked great, given that, what would normally be a simple narration turned into a bit of a podcast in certain moments. I wasn't initially sure if I'd enjoy that or not, but I think it worked really nicely. It provided some tension-releasing moments of humour, and some great off-the-cuff banter back and forth at times. All in all, this book was amazing. Thank you David Goggins. Thank you very much.

Greatest book ever written.
I listened to this book straight through. Not only is it mind-blowing what one person will put himself through but it makes you realize all the sh¡T you have been telling yourself to avoid feeling any discomfort. I had goosebumps through this whole book and it made me realize I have so much more to give. The only bad thing I can say about it is that I wish David Goggins read the whole thing himself.
I would write more but I have to go run as far as I can!

Jacked on Accountability!!
Too much to say so I'll keep it brief. With his no holds barred, no excuse approach, Goggins helps the listener get in touch with the process of personal accountability. No one else to blame, no one else to come to the rescue. When I face unpleasant but necessary tasks I "Get my Goggins on" and push hard! Great stuff, I'm 59 but it's never too late to add some of his philosophy to my repertoire!! Thanks David!

Great Message.
The message Mr. Goggins elaborates on is tremendous. It gives you much to think about and you can easily apply these learnings to your life. Yes, some of it is common sense, but hearing David’s examples really brings the story to life.
I would have liked to understand how his relationship with his own child was impacted by his amazing exploits and life given the difficult childhood he had. That’s a real part of the overall equation as well.
If there was one minor suggestion I could make, the cussing does get a bit tedious at times and the gratuitous way he describes female body parts may offend some listeners (I was not). Just a bit repetitious.
All in all, a great message and that’s the point!

Can't see what is worthwhile here...
Couldn't even finish it. Not because he doesn't make some excellent points, and not because it's all ' I'm such a badass, look at me motherfucker' to become a SEAL he absolutely needed to be that guy.
His accomplishments are astounding. They're also self flagulation, medical horror shows and selfish beyond belief. I'm curious, but not surprised about his multiple divorces. Mostly because he glosses over them so swiftly. There is so much left out, I suspect it's because the rest of his life, beyond the physical circus show, is a hot mess of biblical proportions. The moment I stopped listening was when he used "whine like a bitch" and " to sew up my vagina" for the 100th time
Hey Goggins! Being an alpha male doesn't mean slagging the opposite sex. Go say that to your mom when she's on her death bed. No? Then keep that crap to yourself . You have a huge fan base for several reasons, unfortunately one of those reasons is that you are relatable to all the narrsasistic, insecure women haters.
Be better than that

Opting for the book instead
The audio book is unique in that in between reading chapters, the narrator/co-author interviews David. Overall, it's interesting as a break between chapters. I'm actually returning the audisobook and buying the book instead because there are exercises after every chapter, photos referenced, and there was no audiobook supplement. Feel like that was a major miss that should be rectified for this audiobook.

It starts out great, inspiring. But then....
I really enjoyed the first half, maybe the first 2/3 of this book. Mr. Goggins is inspiring. The difficulties he overcame make him an incredible role model.
But as we got into the ultra marathon stories and the pull-up stories, I seriously began to wonder if the man was a masochist. I do not want to be like that. Not ever. Yes, goals are important, but I will not sacrifice my body and literally exercise myself to the grave. I'm not into massive blood blisters, pushing until collapse, hospitalization, and near-death just to be the best at something. Kudos to him for being able to push that far, but honestly, I don't see the merit.
I would rather live a long, healthy, well-rounded life. I set goals, I achieve them. I am exceptional at everything I do, but there is absolutely no reason to sacrifice my body to be the very best at one single thing.
I struggled to finish the book once we reached the ultra-marathon stage. I no longer wished to be like Mr. Goggins. Do I still admire him? Absolutely. Was the story compelling? Yes. Would I read it again? Probably not.
Mr. Goggins, if by any chance you ever read this review, please know you are awe-inspiring. Not completely what I want to emulate, but that's just me. Thank you for the book. Go on with your bad self.

STAY HARD
Goggins is one of a kind. There is no one better at helping you understand how to maximize your potential, how to not limit yourself, how to get and stay hard. I will read/listen to anything involving Goggins and have been waiting for this book since it was announced.
If you’ve heard/read about “Living with a Seal” David Goggins is the unnamed Navy Seal in that book. Now you can finally hear his full story.
Get this without thinking twice.

This guy will change your life!
I first heard about David Goggins through Joe Rogan’s podcast. I’ve listened to his interview with him at least a dozen times. Through following David Goggins on social media, I learned he was writing a book. After much anticipation, the audiobook is finally out! I’ve already pre ordered my kindle copy from Amazon once the book is officially released dec, 4. I have no doubt that this audio version will be on repeat. This guy has put so many mantras in my head that constantly motivate me to “get after it.” I’ve even considered getting a tattoo of “uncivilized” (something that David explains) somewhere on my body to always remember to be unstoppable and be hungry for more. I hope his words will inspire you to find out something you don’t already know about yourself. They have for me. David, if you’re reading this, thank you! You’ve certainly made an impact on my life!

Got me out of my own head- AMAZING!
Amazing audiobook unlike any other I have heard. While it is an audiobook, it also offers elements of a podcast! Truly engaging and forced me to look at my problems and challenges in life in a very different way.

Overcoming all obstacles
I liked the format of this audio book. It combines Mr. Goggins himself, Mr. Skolnick, a narrator/collaborator, Mr. Goggins’ autobiography, his self analysis, a podcast format, and guidance for readers who wish to improve their lives. The interaction between Mr. Goggins and Mr. Skolnick adds a fresh element to the entire presentation. Clearly Mr. Goggins has confronted and overcome significant obstacles in his lifetime and can serve as an inspiration to all of us. That said, not everyone will feel the need to take self improvement to the nth degree, as did Mr. Goggins. I was somewhat put off by his drive to compete constantly. It didn’t seem like Mr. Goggins’ striving to be the best left much time for a personal life. But his path doesn’t apply to everyone, though aspects of it surely do. The story of his life still has much value for readers and listeners. I’m glad I listened to his book.

Delusions and distortions
I didn’t like how the story was told.
With a constant focus on disadvantage points, not following a cronologica order, and constantly inviting people to push themself, even with injuries in their bodies.
The end is funny, with the author being so good that even his god has to re-evaluate the plans made for him.
Discipline wins over motivation. Thousands have said it before Goggins. There is nothing new in this book.

Looking into the mirror...
Holding yourself accountable. David Goggins is an American Hero. I am grateful to him and others for serving our country and fighting for our freedom. Thank you David for telling it like it is and showing everyone else that they are their own hero, they are held accountable. Celebrate your small successes and get after it, just understand it will be the hardest thing you have ever done because you are in your own way. No excuses, doesn't matter who you are. Period.

Not sure it sets the right example
Kuddos to Goggins for overcoming all the challenges and there’s something one can learn from his story. But it’s really dangerous to give an example of pushing yourself so hard without 1.sorting your psychological traumas and 2. Not letting your body recover/rest. I agree that we should all get out of our comfort zone and push ourselves to develop and become better. Taking it to extreme worked for him but might be lethal for others. Story was ok, very repetitive.

Regret regret regret...
I regret not having listened to this book before. I regret not having had this knowledge earlier. I am utterly amazed at the amazing accomplishments of this HU-MAN.
Words are not necessary to laud this book. Just get up, wake yourself up from your sleep walking life and fight the Jihad of the soul. Fight to concur yourself and you will be amongst the great.
Allahuma Nahdini. I pray for my guidance and for all who sincerely seek it. Amin.

Motivation & Self Discipline
I starting listening to this book more as a joke because I had heard of it from friends. I was surprise to how deep his life experience, methods, and challenges have resonated within me. I will for sure re-listen to it, or re-read it when I’ll feel lost or out of track.
I would finish by saying to not forget to callous your mind & exceed expectations.
