Publisher's Summary

Not every human, elf, or dwarf could be equally important to me - that's a fact I accepted long ago. I was here to serve my role and help end this war, not to achieve world peace or save mankind. It was so that I could someday lead a comfortable and happy life with the people I loved and cared for.

Arthur Leywin has experienced two lifetimes of challenge and adventure. He has lived as a swordsman, a mage, an adventurer, and a king. Now his two lives, old and new, will collide, revealing the connection between King Grey and Arthur Leywin, but at what cost?

How will this affect the ongoing war between the nations of Alacrya and Dicathen? Enemy forces threaten the coastal cities, the elven forests, and the fortified mountain passes. Dicathen’s most powerful allies have vanished, and the military alliance between men, elves, and dwarves threatens collapse. Arthur may be the last hope for his people, but when forced to choose between family and country, where will his loyalty lie?

Spectacular eh

This book is great. Nothing more needs to be said. But I will continue because it is so good.

This book was full of amazing battle and you really get to see the characters develop in new and interesting was, some may have been obvious and cliché, they were done so well I don’t really care. Not to mention the emotional cliffhanger.

Travis baldree was phenomenal as always.

Can’t wait to see(hear) more keep it up.

The combination of author and narrator was a match made in heaven.

Depressing & poor perspective cutting

Came back to this series after a long hiatus, and was reminded why I stopped about here the last time I read these books. I have my own gripes as I felt the series has an overly accelerated power curve, and the whole mana core & adventuring sections introduced were practically skipped over, but this was the book that lead to me stopping and almost did again. Continuing for now but may not reach the end of the series.

It was just... too depressing. The lead up to this book was main character barely managing to find wins, where it was the enemy being magnanimous to the MC, luck or pulling BS out of his pocket, without much to look forward to how they can overcome these in the future. But then they are just beaten down with a stick over and over again and just lacking any positivity. While characters can take L's and still be an enjoyable series, either I didn't like how it was done or it was just too much for me in this book.

Amazing

The character development really starts ramping, and the story gets deep, one of the best yet

Very good over all

I've been following this story from the start. I find it brings me and it reels me out. Pulls me in and let's me go. There a nice balance of peeks and valleys with the story line, allowing space to breath from the intense parts and we learn alot more of Arthur's past life in this one

beauty in the eye of the beholder

books great if you love weak protagonists who lose the whole time then deus x machina a win. and all the opponents are too strong without explanation. but if your like me then you'll probably feel like the 0ok is a waste if time

Too much sad. Not enough happy

I found this book to be mostly depressing. I desperately hope Turtle Me can redeem himself in the next book. I can't take much more of this.
