long story short...send knives and you'll do well!

Too much fluff not enough case studies.
Book goes over same concept of" Give before you receive " over and over again.

I would recommend "talk triggers" to anyone that is interested in making experiences special

Quick but informative

Interesting about giving good, meaningful gifts vs just anything. We give tons of gifts to our clients and making one of meaning is key. Great book, worth the investment

Chalk full of nuggets

A great way to approach relationship building for any business owner that doesn’t want to compete in red oceans.

Great concept but left me wanting more

This book helped me to think harder about gifting and the positive byproducts associated with giving a quality gift, but it felt like mostly a promotion for his company.

I would have liked to have seen different and more gift examples... in the whole book he only mentions about 10 gifts that he and his partners have used. Also, the continual mention of bonus info if I go to his site and download the resources felt manipulative.... i bought the damn book so give me the info without jumping through hoops.

I like the idea, but overall it was lacking actionable steps and resources to make the process of "giftology" easy to implement.

I do not recommend this book.

Has one beautiful sentence

The idea is amazing and the anecdotes are somewhat inspiring, but sadly, there isn't that much that goes into the concept. The whole book can be comprehensively summarized in pretty much two or three sentences.

No bonus but an okay story of gift experiences

I found it to be a somewhat interesting story, but nothing overly exciting. There is value in the content but the author is short on details and rather sends you to his website for "bonus information" about 10 times throughout the book. I actually went looking for this promised bonus information, and after having to register for the newsletter, unfortunately couldn't find it. I feel a bit cheated.

Too promotional

The book keeps referencing his online website for content that should have been included in the audiobook

The Golden Rule - For Business Owners

Call it what you want, "The Golden Rule", "The Law of Reciprocity", "The Law of Attraction" and on and on, the underlying ideas in John's book is simply paying attention to the people around you that you would like to get to know better and finding a gift idea that helps them notice you. It's simply brilliant and a breath of fresh air considering how 'self indulged' many are today.

It might be easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you're simply attempting to 'buy' your way into selling a prospect, but in reality what is happening is that by following John's gifting program, you are actually learning how to better listen, and SHOW that you are indeed listening. It's the ability to show you are really listening (also implies that you understand them at some level) that get's the giftee's attention.

After all isn't that what we want - simply to be listened and paid attention to.

Ideas Galore

I enjoyed this book very much. it gave me ideas on why gifting is important, not only to clients, but to employees, vendors, and mentors. While you do not give to get, almost always everyone will be reciprocal.
