Publisher's Summary

A cut-through-the-crap guide to quitting the self-destructive habits that undermine happiness and success

How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t is a straight-shooting self-improvement guide for women, one that offers frank advice about the most common self-destructive behaviors women engage in. Andrea Owen—a nationally sought-after life coach—crystallizes what’s behind several invisible, undermining habits, from catastrophizing and people-pleasing to listening to the imposter complex or to one’s inner critic. Powerfully on the mark, the chapters are short and digestible, nicely bypassing weighty examinations in favor of punch points of awareness. Her book kicks women’s gears out of autopilot and empowers listeners to create happier, more fulfilling lives.

Now updated to address new challenges including the COVID-19 global pandemic, the toxic positivity of the self-care industry, and the destructive impact of social media, How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t enjoins listeners to overcome their negative habits with compassion and understanding.

A good read.

Although the author summarized several ideas from other famous self help gurus, she added assignments to help guide the ideas.

Geat Read

I personally enjoyed it. It wasn't anything new to me in terms of content but it was a nice reminder and consolidation of several simple concepts. I found it inspirational and it gave me alot of things to think about on a daily basis as I observe my own behavior.

There are some pearls

Where was this book 20 years ago? I’m no longer the right audience for it I think. I’m not even sure why I chose this book, other than out of curiosity. I don’t feel like shit (most of the time) and I’ve quite a bit of life experience that has taught me so much already. I think this would be best suited for folks in their 20s or 30s. By the time we’re approaching 50 we sure have a lot of sh&t figured out !

Life Changer

Andrea Owen has taken me on an emotional roller coaster through some of the life experiences I've swept under the rug and chose to ignore for decades. I bought the physical copy as well as the #Audible1 version of this book, and it has seriously changed the game for me. I feel like we've lived similar stories and her PDF that accompanies the book with all the tough questions to ask yourself, and work to do, is where the magic happens. She has empowered me to take the actions necessary to literally change my life for the better in countless ways. Great listen. Great read. Life changer!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!!

Calming and pure

I downloaded this book when I was at a low and didn’t know what to do with myself or the emotions I was feeling. I’m not in a place where I could seek out a therapist, so a book is the next best thing. With in the first few chapters I already started to feel better and learned to stop letting my inner critic have control. I also learned a few things I was not seeing clearly. This is my first time reading a self help book and I already have two more queued, and ready to go

Religious but not declared

Didn’t appreciate the Christian religious undertone without that being part of the synopses. Also boring and just pop culture dribble.
