When his mother became President, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, genius—his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There's only one problem: Alex has a beef with the actual prince, Henry, across the pond. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.

Arthur is only in New York for the summer, but if Broadway has taught him anything, it’s that the universe can deliver a showstopping romance when you least expect it. Ben thinks the universe needs to mind its business. If the universe had his back, he wouldn’t be on his way to the post office carrying a box of his ex-boyfriend’s things. But when Arthur and Ben meet-cute at the post office, what exactly does the universe have in store for them? Maybe nothing. After all, they get separated. Maybe everything. After all, they get reunited.

Publisher's Summary
A Number 1 Audible Best Seller
A short novella based on the beloved characters from Alice Oseman’s acclaimed debut novel Solitaire and graphic novel series Heartstopper – now a major Netflix series. From the author of the 2021 YA Book Prize winning Loveless.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?
CHARLIE: 'I have been going out with Nick Nelson for two years. He likes rugby, Formula 1, dogs, the Marvel universe, the sound felt-tips make on paper, rain and drawing on shoes. He also likes me.'
NICK: 'Things me and Charlie Spring do together include: Watch films. Sit in the same room on different laptops. Text each other from different rooms. Make out. Make food. Make drinks. Get drunk. Talk. Argue. Laugh. Maybe we're kind of boring. But that’s fine with us.'
Everyone knows that Nick and Charlie are the perfect couple – that they’re inseparable. But now Nick is leaving for university, and Charlie will be left behind at Sixth Form. Everyone’s asking if they’re staying together, which is a stupid question – they’re ‘Nick and Charlie’ for God’s sake!
But as the time to say goodbye gets inevitably closer, both Nick and Charlie question whether their love is strong enough to survive being apart. Or are they delaying the inevitable? Because everyone knows that first loves rarely last forever....
What the critics say
“The most honest and authentic account of modern teenage life that you’ll read this year...outstanding contemporary fiction with appeal to fans of John Green.” (The Bookseller)
"A very authentic, teenage voice." (Sunday Times)
Editorial Review
Touchingly narrated by Huw Parmenter and Sam Newtown, Nick and Charlie is a gorgeous short novella about first love and eternity, however incompatible those two things may be. The eponymous main characters are the dictionary definition of togetherness, but change is around the corner. With Nick Nelson off to university and Charlie Spring staying in high school, what happens now? Does absence make the heart grow fonder? Or will physical distance create an emotional equivalent? Will love thrive, or is a breakup on the horizon? This is the first time Nick and Charlie‘s relationship has been tested in such a way; can it survive? A gorgeous audiobook built around relatable characters and moments dripping with tenderness, this short story is a triumph from start to finish.
Nick and Charlie is a short novella that takes its cues from young adult author Alice Oseman’s other works, namely the magnificent best seller Solitaire and her graphic novel series Heartstopper. The latter is now a major Netflix production, and Nick and Charlie builds on the world constructed by the Radio Silence and Loveless author. Can Nick and Charlie stay together? Will they find the time to keep the fires burning? Love is a complex game, however, and life isn’t literature. Long-distance relationships aren’t easy. Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring are in for a challenge.

This book is quite sad, but in a good way. Alice is quite the amazing author and knows what she is doing. I feel that the Audio book was actually a lot more intense, as the narrators put forth a lot of effort into this. Overall, the plot was amazing, and I wish the best of luck towards Alice:)
