Publisher's Summary

If you could turn back the clock and fix all the mistakes you ever made, would you?

From the author of the award-winning Web-novel Reborn: Evolving from Nothing comes the tale of Micheal Care, a swordsman that could only be considered a middling warrior in Humanity's Last Army.

Micheal's answer to that question would be quite simple.

Yes. A million times yes.

Humanity has fallen, killed by stronger races of beings after being warped away to a new reality, the mystical Seven Layers.

Humanity's goal had been simple. Make it through all Seven Layers and reach Heaven.

Humanity failed.

Humanity died.

Micheal Care's memories have been transported back into his past self thanks to a magical Artifact he found by chance.

He is no chosen savior. He is no divinely picked hero.

Can he change the future? Can he catch up to the mightiest warriors of humanity and surpass them?

Listen and find out.

if I hear "his eyes flashed" one more time.....

im about half way through and I'm pausing to write this review because I am extremely tired of hearing that line "his eyes flashed" it is used atleast once every chapter its like this author could not for the life of him come up with a different way of conveying a sense of the characters inner conflict without using it, and the narrator pronounces "ki" as "kai" instead of "key" it's super cringey.

HOWEVER, the story is very good I feel like there are many missed opportunities in the world the author has created that could have substantially improved on the book as a whole and even more questions that lead me to wonder how this book has all 5 star ratings so far but It holds up well. I have over 9months of listening time logged into audible and this book definitely would not meet my requirements to be recommended to my circle of friends but I am enjoying the story to a certain degree.
I would not reccomend this book if you have a penchant for noticing small errors that take away from the story, even less so if that penchant tends to ruin books for you.....a lot of things in this story simply do not add up.

Good story.

The author truly does love the phrase "his eyes flashed" and to be honest it was grating at first but then my SO turned it into a drinking game. I dont remember how the novel ends...

5 stars just for the record player

While the rest was great, I couldn't stop laughing and singing along during the record player chapter. That was truly awesome.

“Slightly” good book

It’s enjoyable but the writing is quite basic. The word “slightly” is overused. It is used so regularly that it turned into a drinking game. I’m now dead due to alcohol poisoning. RIP me.

Narration is good of course but the writing is very blunt. It lacks subtlety. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s a good read. Enjoyable premise and a promising start to a series.

Great story and narration.

Tried it since I heard the 4th one is coming out. And wow not disappointed at all. Fun story, I always enjoy a good time shift/travel.

Get it if you like that kinda story. Can’t wait to see where the story takes us.

The single wrong way

to pronounce Chi/ki. A lot of repetitive expositions with the same informations. Please be more confident in your reader/listener capacity to recall your worldbuilding.

Enjoyable

The story was fresh and the characters likeable. At first I thought the narrator was a bit over the top but enjoyed it after getting into the story. The narration style suits the story quite well.

Made me feel like humanity COULD be saved.

I felt the weight of the main character’s purpose throughout the story. The humour was a good balance to the intensity, but I felt the plight of humanity and the hope of making things better. It was a ride I’ll take again and again.
