Takedown Review

I very much enjoyed this story. I read it in 1 day. I’m a fan of Brad Thor and have already read many if his books. I look forward to my next Brad Thor book. Great story, action and colorful characters.

Somewhat disappointing

I really like Brad Thor's Scot Harvath series, especially The Lions of Lucerne (amazing), Path of the Assassin, & State of the Union. While I mostly like this story, there were some holes in it that didn't get plugged and that I got hung up on - like the assumption that the murderous rescuer was just "gone" when there was still a no-fly alert over NY City. Really?? Seemed like there was no interest in tying up the lose end, so Scot simply resigned himself and gave up chasing. There were some 'whys' missing - like why did the troll even care about rescuing what's his name. What I particularly didn't like was the reader, who adopted a voice for Scot Harvath that was nasally and high - classically unsuitable for the competent, quick, smart thinking hero. He used a similar voice for the President Rutledge, that was nasally as well and with a rate of speech that made him seem incompetent and irritable, instead of steady and thoughtful even in the face of a monumental crisis. I stopped listening to Blow Back b/c of my irritation with George Guidall's narration. I'll give the next in the series a shot, but I don't know if I'll hang in there with the series if it's the same reader.

Hmm

Enjoyed the series until Takedown. Let's start with...the terrorist was horrified seeing M&M's swollen penis and wondered what kind of person would think up this torture?!? Perhaps took a cue from the Islamic terrorists that bind people in cages and set them on fire or drop them into the ocean. Are we supposed to pity these people, Brad? Oh, and the other remark the terrorist said when escaping through the hotel. Paraphrasing here....we are not like them (the US) and thus restrain themselves from taking down innocent civilians when the opening salvo of the plot was that they blew every tunnel and bridge in NYC trapping thousands of innocent "civilians" Give me a break, Brad. You really need to consult your storyboard. One more in this series, if you don't get a grip, I quit. Vince Flynn you are not.

Good, but not Great.

I really good listen, but the story was not quite as solid as some of the others in the series.

Great Story Poor performance

Finally Scot’s romantic side comes out, but will it last?
It’s a great story, too bad it’s read in monosyllables

Just depressing

I forgot why I stopped reading Brad Thor. I don’t need THAT much reality in my entertainment.
