About this listen
The unauthorized story of Lululemon.
This is a book about ordinary people who took an opportunity to be creative, to be innovative, and to maximize their potential.
Chip Wilson’s part in this story comes from the learning of thousands of mistakes. He set the culture, business model, quality platform, and people development program and then got out of the way. Lululemon’s exponential growth, culture, and brand strength have few peers, and it is because of those employees who choose to be great.
This book is also about missed opportunity - five years of missed opportunity. Chip was playing to win while the directors of the company he founded were playing not to lose.

Normal thinking leads to normal results. For exceptional results, traders must think differently. This book will guide and inspire you in ways no other trading book has. It is not about strategies and money management. It is about mind management. Tom Hougaard provides a unique and refreshingly personal account of how an ordinary trader elevated his game to incredible heights by focusing as much on his mental approach as on his technical analysis. Best Loser Wins explains how you, by thinking differently when you are trading, can elevate your game from mediocre to excellent.

Why is Red Bull so popular, though everyone—everyone!—hates the taste? Humans are, in a word, irrational, basing decisions as much on subtle external signals (that little blue can) as on objective qualities (flavor, price, quality). The surrounding world, meanwhile, is irreducibly complex and random. This means future success can’t be projected on any accounting spreadsheet. To strike gold, you must master the dark art and curious science of conjuring irresistible ideas: alchemy.

Authentic, raw and mega-helpful book for entrepreneurs and startups!
Admire Chip’s vulnerability to share the truth despite the amount of conflict that likely arose from it- to me, that’s true bravery and legacy. All for the benefit of our learning and wisdom, Chip shared details and ins and outs of his thinking and growth journey. This gave a sincere look into the depths of going public, failing, startup troubles, family involvement, conflicting personalities in a board, key employees, company culture, going against the status quo and so much more! Any entrepreneur with a mindset to grow should listen.

Highly recommend!
I was excited to read this book but was hesitant based on the reviews referring to the second half of the book being perceived as bitter towards Lululemon. I have to say after finishing the book it is more about the rise and fall of a business model and the personal struggle of being a leader. I believe Chip is describing his side of events that no one allowed him to tell and of course he has a lot to say about how his empire was drastically changed towards the opposition of what Lululemon stood for. Read this book and decide for yourself, but you will certainly take away something from it regardless of your perspective!

I absolutely love this book and the openness with which Chip Wilson narrates his story and that of Lululemon. A man who knows what he stands for and is not afraid to be himself. Inspiring authenticity. Also so many great book recommendations.
On aside more, Chip Wilson has also really made me want to live in Vancouver :)

Fascinating story
I’m from Vancouver and had a different idea of who Chip Wilson is. This book was fascinating in that he really gives to his employees in all forms. I’ve switched a few years ago to be a kit & ace shopper - the quality was the original lululemon - it all makes sense now! I have so much respect for Chip’s integrity and sharing his story in his voice. 5 stars - bravo!
