Story
In a warren of crumbling buildings and desperate people called the Old City, there stands a hospital with cinderblock walls that echo the screams of the poor souls inside. In the hospital, there is a woman. Her hair, once blond, hangs in tangles down her back. She doesn't remember why she's in such a terrible place. Just a tea party long ago, and long ears, and blood.

Story
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Story
There once was a killer who knew the night, its secrets and rhythms. How to hide within its shadows. When to hunt. He roamed from town to town, city to city, choosing his prey for their beauty and innocence. His cruelties were infinite, his humanity long since forfeit. But still... he had not yet discovered how to make his special mark among monsters, how to come fully alive as Death. This is the story of how he learned those things, and of what we might do to ensure that he does not visit us.

"Happily Ever After" wasn't supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of 20 years packs up and heads for greener pastures, and my son heads away to college, that's exactly what my midlife becomes. A do-over. This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at 40 I'm ready to carve my own path. Eager for a fresh start, I make a somewhat unorthodox decision and move to a tiny town in the Sierra foothills.

Twenty-eight florins a month is a huge price to pay for a man to stand between you and the Wild. Twenty-eight florins a month is nowhere near enough when a wyvern's jaws snap shut on your helmet in the hot stink of battle, and the beast starts to rip the head from your shoulders. But if standing and fighting is hard, leading a company of men - or worse, a company of mercenaries - against the smart, deadly creatures of the Wild is even harder. It takes all the advantages of birth, training, and the luck of the devil to do it.

Publisher's Summary
The author of Alice takes listeners through a dark tale of Peter Pan, who turns his best friend into his nemesis, Captain Hook.
On an island lives a boy called Peter and his band of merry lost boys, young forever. That is unless they get sick or killed by pirates or eaten by crocodiles or unless - inexplicably - they grow old. For some of them do grow old, and nobody knows why.
One of these boys is called Jamie, and he was the first boy that Peter ever brought to the island. Jamie's lived there for longer than he can remember, and it's not all fun and games. Peter thinks the boys are replaceable, that if one dies or grows up, he can swap in another from the Other Place, the place where he collects new playmates. Jamie looks out for the boys and takes care of them. He does everything Peter does not. Jamie tries to keep them alive because to him they matter. When Peter steals a boy who is too young, Jamie takes the boy under his wing. But Peter won't have that, for nobody will ever take Jamie from him. Ever.

Interesting listen
I love the idea of stories inside of stories that have already been told.
This book appeals to my curiosity and imagination as to how characters become what they are. I just fell in love with the descriptive scenery and the boys. The feeling of being pulled back and forth and the dread and panic! It’s invigorating. I swear it’s worth the listen and I can’t wait to read another Christina Henry

Dark Neverland
This version of Peter Pan shows us how cruel a child can be without knowing, and how much cruel he can become when he finds out. The narrator is amazing to show the innocence of the lost boys, and then deepening his voice when the fun is gone from their games.

"Peter will say I'm a villain, that I wronged him, that I never was his friend. But I told you already, Peter lies.
Oh, this was GOOD! Hands down my favourite twisted fairytale/retelling to date.
This dark Peter Pan prequel of sorts tells the story of how Peter's best friend became his enemy. Forget what you know about the original story, because you'll never look at it the same way again.
I loved how this book read like a children's story but with dark shocking twists. I was so invested in the story from the prologue onwards and couldn't wait to see how things played out. I especially appreciated the story being in Jamie's POV, as I really sympathized with his character and wanted the best for him and the boys he cared for.
I can't recommend this book enough!

Twisted and fun ride through Neverland
Loved it. Samuel's narration brought me into the mind of young James. The struggles this boy went through due to the childish whims of Peter explains how a boy becomes a man. I'm sure this has been said before, but i got a Lord of the Flies meets Peter Pan.
Christina crafted a wonderful story, and journey with a colorful cast full of individual minds. Looking forward to more of Ms. Henry's books

AMAZING!
This was probably the best audiobook I have ever listened to. If you like alternative fairy tales, or ever enjoyed the story of Peter Pan then I highly recommend this book. It was so good, it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was a third of the way through the book soon after picking it up without even realizing how much time had passed. I just couldn't stop myself from wanting to hear the rest. Seriously fantastic.

I'm emotionally devastated in the best way
I could not stop thinking about this story in-between listening, and I'm going to be thinking about it for at least another week. The voice performance was perfect, and the book was well written. I'm grateful this book was recommended to me by two friends, because boy-howdy do I need to talk about it. If you like Peter Pan (and the Hunger Games) you're in for a treat.

The Prequel I was dying to read
This is EXACTLY what I wanted. A gritty, real, heartbreaking explanation of the beginning of Peter and Hook and how they got to where they are in Peter and Wendy. Absolutely fabulous. The voice acting, the story, everything. I would really really REALLY love it if the author could also cap the whole story and give us what happens AFTER Wendy and her descendants leave the island years later. Perhaps Hook finally gets the peace he deserves?
THANK YOU for writing this.
