Story
This collection of 25 Hercule Poirot adventures is compiled from short stories written by Agatha Christie for The Sketch magazine in 1923 from March to December. In these stories, including "The Disappearance of Mr. Davenheim", "The Veiled Lady", and "The Adventure of the Egyptian Tomb", the eccentric private detective slowly and surely solves mysteries involving jealousy, revenge, and greed. These stories were well-received at the time and cemented Christie's reputation as the worthy successor to Arthur Conan Doyle.

Story
Set in the wide-open spaces of the American West, The Power of the Dog is a stunning story of domestic tyranny, brutal masculinity, and thrilling defiance from one of the most powerful and distinctive voices in American literature. The novel tells the story of two brothers—one magnetic but cruel, the other gentle and quiet—and of the mother and son whose arrival on the brothers’ ranch shatters an already tenuous peace.

Sherlock Holmes at his best
as a life long fan I have listened to the stories of sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his spirit truly lives on in the newest story. well done mr Horowitz...well done indeed, and in the same way Derek Jacobi brings Dr Watson to life in every word.

Narrator makes it.
Finished "house of Silk" thought it was good and immediately bought "Moriarity".
In M it feels like the narrator is reading the part, good but in HOS it feels as Jacobi is acting.
Maybe the English accent but strong recommend for HOS.
.
Edit:
Got thinking that "acting" could be read as derogatory.
Not as I meant.
but his "voice" would not have worked in the Moriarity read

Can I still enter review if not finished?
If might not be fair to enter the review when I haven't finished the book yet, but I want to document my enthusiasm about this book.
I was introduced to Anthony Horowitz by his latest book, The Word is Murder, and I really enjoyed it. The plot twist was brilliant and maybe because I am novice to Mystery/Thriller genre, but I did not see that coming.
Then I was researching his other work, and this book came to my attention.
I'm still early in the book, but the case is getting more complicated.
Some of the description of deceased victims were very graphic and a bit much for me, but I was able to skim through and go to Sherlock's brilliant reasoning.
Hope I would be able to update my review once I'm finished.

Great narration and story
Easily one of the best Holmes narrators, no surprise given that it is the esteemed actor Derek Jacobi. There’s one aspect to the story that may upset some listeners or readers, and it is the Very nature of them eponymous House itself and what it contains. While i shall not give it away suffice to say it is at once a contemporary concern and one that, sadly, was probably just as true In the time it is set. I found myself rather disturbed. But it is a good listening experience and well worth the purchase. Beware: this is post-mortem Holmes. He's dead. It's all about a case that had to remain "sealed" for years...and now Watson is an old man, and can finally talk about it.

Thanks, not for me
*Spoiler alert*
When picking up a Sherlock Holmes style mystery I was not expecting gruesome torture / murder of children and a depressing storyline revolving around a pedophile ring.
Doesn't line up with the kind of Sherlock Holmes plots I was used to by Doyle. I guess I am not a tough enough mysterie/thriller reader, just looking for some interesting storyline, not shock and depression.
If there had been any indication of this in the book description, I would have definitely skipped this one.
