Story
Like an avenging, purple-haired Jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project—a literal dream come true after years scraping by on the crumbs of academia—Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.

Story
The many lives of theoretical physicist Elsie Hannaway have finally caught up with her. By day, she’s an adjunct professor, toiling away at grading labs and teaching thermodynamics in the hopes of landing tenure. By other day, Elsie makes up for her non-existent paycheck by offering her services as a fake girlfriend, tapping into her expertly honed people-pleasing skills to embody whichever version of herself the client needs. Honestly, it’s a pretty sweet gig—until her carefully constructed Elsie-verse comes crashing down.

Five hockey players, a cabin in the woods...and little old me, Winnie Berlin. Sounds like the start of a fantasy, right? But it's not. It's my reality. It all started when I got lost in the middle of the Canadian Rockies. Publisher's Summary
In an attempt to convince her best friend that she is happily in love, scientist Olive soon finds herself wrapped up in her most exhilarating experiment yet. Prepare to get swept away by this heartwarming romantic comedy from Ali Hazelwood, The Love Hypothesis.
While adored by fans for her popular rom-coms, writer Ali Hazelwood has dedicated most of her life to studying neuroscience, and that shines through in her beloved storylines. Her clever use of academia sets her romance books apart and adds a unique element that has made her writing style especially popular among women in STEM. Some of her fan-favourite books include Under One Roof and Love On the Brain.
The novel offers a fresh twist on the fake dating trope that starts in the research lab. PhD candidate Olive Smith has been avoiding the dating scene. But to appease her best friend Anh, a true believer in lasting romance, she kisses a colleague for proof. He turns out to be Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor and a jerk. To Olive’s surprise, Adam agrees to be her fake boyfriend. And he keeps surprising her.
Callie Dalton and Teddy Hamilton narrate this charming romance novel. Together, they bring these two characters to life in ways that will leave listeners giddy with excitement and anticipation. Aside from allowing listeners to hear each character’s inner dialogue read out loud, their inflection and personalities make them feel like they are watching the story unfold.
What the critics say
An Indie Next Pick!
"A literary breakthrough…The Love Hypothesis is a self-assured debut, and we hypothesize it's just the first bit of greatness we'll see from an author who somehow has the audacity to be both an academic powerhouse and divinely talented novelist."—Entertainment Weekly
“Contemporary romance's unicorn: the elusive marriage of deeply brainy and delightfully escapist...The Love Hypothesis has wild commercial appeal but the quieter secret is that there is a specific audience, made up of all of the Olives in the world, who have deeply, ardently waited for this exact book.”—Christina Lauren, New York Times bestselling author
“Funny, sexy and smart, Ali Hazelwood did a terrific job with The Love Hypothesis.”—Mariana Zapata, New York Times bestselling author

Couldn’t put this book down
This was my first book by this author. I had heard many good things about it. I couldn’t put it down. Loved how an impulsive kiss turned into fake dating. The relationship between the hero and heroine was cute. They had banter and only she saw a different side to him compared to most people. He helped her become more confident in her presenting her work. He really did believe in her. This book has unexpected moments that are so satisfying!! I will go back and re-listen to this many times, I already know!

emotional damage
Loved it so much. Cried for a whole day after finishing it because I realized a man like Adam Carlsen does not exist. And even if he did exist I probably wouldn't end up with him. Set my expectations for men even higher. 10/10 for the emotional damage, 9/10 for the spice, and 100/10 for the wholesome-ness of both characters.

Met my expectations but..
This was everything I thought it would be; a little corny, and very predictable but cute and heart warming.
I enjoyed Callie Daltons narration a lot and was surprised that her delivery of Olive’s character and the jokes made my laugh out loud more than once.
If I’m being honest, I didn’t enjoy the bonus chapter as much. The content wasn’t bad, though for me it was a bit cringey, however in my opinion it was narrated a bit too aggressively. Nothing against the narration, Just wasn’t to my preference.

A favourite of mine!
Love that this author provides interesting story lines that are simple, interesting and totally engaging without fading into erotica. There are no silly segues introduced only to push the story line. No frequent repetitive words or lines. It is a terrifically interesting story presented via concise writing by a wonderful author…love her writing and witt.
