Publisher's Summary

An angsty second-chance forbidden romance.

He was my boyfriend’s best friend—and the bane of my existence. I wanted to hate Luke Taylor. I did hate him. I just never hated him enough.

Now, a decade later, tragedy has brought us back to the place where it all happened—my best times and my worst.

Our lives have changed, but that pull between us is just as strong as ever.

Only this time, it’s more dangerous too.

Just kinda sad

I thought I liked it at first but felt like she was just sad the whole time. I liked Luke but could have almost had more of him.
Honestly Juliette really needed to make some choices she just was a victim and never made any choice to make her life better. Made me not feel bad for her but for Danny her boyfriend.

Broke my heart in the best way!

The Summer We Fell broke my heart and then stitched it back together! The story is told in alternating chapters between the past and present, creating a roller coaster of emotions that intensified the feelings of angst, as you are trying to figure out the puzzle of the past and how things got to where they are in the present. Juliet was such a damaged character, it was heartbreaking to hear the low opinion she had of herself and how she tried to tamp down the desire for anything more than what she had because she truly believed she didn’t deserve it. Luke never had this opinion of Juliet, he always saw her clearly for the amazing and self sacrificing person she was, even when she was trying to convince herself she hated him. He definitely fell first, and even though Juliet was with his best friend (not very happily), he tried to show her he cared through his actions. He never wavered in his love for her, both in the past and present.

The narration from Samantha Brentmoor and Teddy Hamilton was amazing. Samantha brought Juliet’s pain to life with her emotional performance and hit you right in the feels. She was able to convey all of Juliet’s emotions that made you feel as if you were right there experiencing it alongside her. Teddy portrayed Luke with such fierceness, you knew his devotion to Juliet knew no bounds!

Hurt People, Hurt People

Great story. Emotional roller coaster that works out in the end.

Any person who suffers a trauma should get a form of counseling so they can heal properly.

Umm… I have thoughts.

The writing in The Summer We Fell was so good. I couldn’t stop listening! But I became enraged and wanted to throw my phone SEVERAL times.

FMC Juliet has so much trauma and pain in her life. It has both hardened her and made her fierce, but also made her susceptible to being steam rolled. I loved every moment that she was fierce, but the moments when she let herself be pushed around and bullied made me so angry.

Luke was a great MC. He was quite dreamy, but his best quality was how he didn’t only speak for or defend Juliet, but encouraged her to find her own voice.

Danny is the worst and would have done well to exist in the 1950s.
