You in Danger, Girl

You in Danger, Girl

Suspenseful mysteries and thrillers featuring the girls, women, wives, and daughters who have defined a genre.

In the thriller genre, there's a lot that can be said about the persistent labelling of grown women as ''girls'' — or about continually shunting them into the roles of wives, mothers, and daughters. But even for fans of these heart-pounding listens — myself wholeheartedly included — there is comfort in the familiar and a utility to these labels. When you pick up one of these titles, you know what to expect: a taut story centred on a woman who, more often than not, emerges victorious from a threat upon her life or the lives of her loved ones. (And if you're really lucky, the narrative follows a woman hellbent on exacting her own vendettas.) In this collection — titled in loving homage to the 1990 film Ghost — I've surfaced the best of the girl/woman/wife/daughter mystery microgenre for your binge-listening pleasure.
