Publisher's Summary

"Indistractable provides a framework that will deliver the focus you need to get results." (James Clear, author of Atomic Habits)

You sit down at your desk to work on an important project, but a notification on your phone interrupts your morning. Later, as you're about to get back to work, a colleague taps you on the shoulder to chat. At home, screens get in the way of quality time with your family. Another day goes by, and once again, your most important personal and professional goals are put on hold.

What would be possible if you followed through on your best intentions? What could you accomplish if you could stay focused and overcome distractions? What if you had the power to become "indistractable"?

International best-selling author, former Stanford lecturer, and behavioral design expert, Nir Eyal, wrote Silicon Valley's handbook for making technology habit-forming. Five years after publishing Hooked, Eyal reveals distraction's Achilles' heel in his groundbreaking new book.

In Indistractable, Eyal reveals the hidden psychology driving us to distraction. He describes why solving the problem is not as simple as swearing off our devices: Abstinence is impractical and often makes us want more.

Eyal lays bare the secret of finally doing what you say you will do with a four-step, research-backed model. Indistractable reveals the key to getting the best out of technology, without letting it get the best of us.

Inside, Eyal overturns conventional wisdom and reveals:

  • Why distraction at work is a symptom of a dysfunctional company culture - and how to fix it
  • What really drives human behavior and why "time management is pain management"
  • Why your relationships (and your sex life) depend on you becoming indistractable
  • How to raise indistractable children in an increasingly distracting world

Empowering and optimistic, Indistractable provides practical, novel techniques to control your time and attention - helping you live the life you really want.

Exactly like title says

This is one of the books I would recommend as a MUST if you are looking to change your behavior, make positive changes and establish good habits.

I would say though, that one book is not enough to make it happen. This book covers the topic of how to be less distracted very comprehensively , but in order to get everything i stated in the first sentence you need to get some other books.

For me, personally, this book, along with Atomic Habits and Compound effect are BIG THREE in the niche!

I was ready to commit to remove distractions from my personal and business life on 90% and this book delivered just missing 10% to have mission accomplished.

An incredibly important follow up to hooked

This book feels indispensable to me. I feel that it is the most important subject for anyone who identifies with feeling or being busy. It may even be more so the case for people who don’t identify as being busy, but I told by others that they always are.

Really well structured and I really appreciated the action ability for supporting future generations and current loved ones and relationships. Great work Nir

Practical tips + great storytelling

What more could you ask for? Nir lends his own voice to his audio book. He shares practical tips for becoming indistractable. He tells great stories about applying these tips in the workplace, with children, and with yourself and partners. I'm looking forward to going to his website to access the resources.

Learn how to be focussed

I downloaded this audiobook to listen to while I was doing my morning walk of approximately 5 km each day. although I was on a mission to get some exercise, I found myself listening intently to the author. The book provides practical tips and suggestions, that will benefit folks who are trying to manage their time, managing their priorities, wow also being able to enjoy the things that you love, typically what distracts you from what you need to get done. the author reads the book himself and has a lovely voice and enunciation.

Exactly What I Needed!

Indistractable is a well-researched practical guide to taking control of your life. The advice and examples make it easy for you to take action at your own pace. Putting one of the suggested tactics in place will pay for this book on the very first day. There are a few things that stood out to me and made it different from any other book of its kind. First, the authors help you to realize how much the distractions in your life are impacting you. Secondly, they provide an actual model that helps you to identify distractions, their underlying root cause and how to overcome them. Finally, I truly enjoyed the chapters on implementing the technics at home with family and how to teach children to do the same giving them a huge advantage. Indistractable is a book everyone should read who wants to be as efficient as possible so that they spend their time on what matters most to them. Highly recommended.
